With end-of-the-year nostalgia, we at JV are reminiscing about the floral prints that got away. Over the years, so many beautiful designs have crossed our path. And we regret only the ones we didn’t buy! As New Year’s Eve approaches, we attempt to make amends.

Venice’s modern roof-top gardens originated in the 16th century as secret lounging areas for courtesans. Here they exposed their hair to the sun to create the golden tresses immortalized in Renaissance paintings. Which JV pieces might they have chosen to wear “up on the roof?”

The color red is beloved by the French, and by Jane’s Vanity. In 18th century France, red was all the rage, both because of the newly discovered vermillion red of Pompeii, and also the advent of vivid red imports from the Far East. As fall arrives, we picture you wrapped in red. The Chinese call it “The Color of Contentment.”
