Summer School

When Jane’s Vanity spoke of summer, we sat up straight and learned our lessons well. We’ll love to apply what we learned to our fall wardrobe too. Because…

We discovered the usefulness of a high neck bra. It was exactly what we needed beneath a muscle tee shirt, adding shape and attitude. For autumn lounging, we’ll show Karolina Laskowska’s aqua-colored high neck Ephyra Lingerie Set beneath our Tama Coral Silk Pajama from Karma on the Rocks. And the Siena High Neck Set from Hervé by Céline Marie will protect us from the chill beneath Temperley London’s plunging Aphrodite Robe.

A summer romance with British label Derek Rose taught us the discrete charm of covering up. We hid from the sun in the Sicily Linen Longline Shirt. We ran down a moon-lit beach in the Nelson Navy Cotton Pajamas. For fall, we plan to wrap up in the Verona Smoking Jacket. We dote upon its haberdashery look that contrasts so nicely with the slinkiest gowns, the highest heels. We adore the jacket’s tailoring, its paisley, its piping, and its navy tassels.

Summer was a time to play with color. To wit: the splashes of yellow, chartreuse, and ochre on pink that make up the floral design of Karma on the Rocks’s Edo Higa Slip Dress. Yellow will be great for fall. We’ve already begun to collect it with the Araks label’s Beatrice Pomelo Bralette Set and matching Holly Pomelo Slip in two-toned peach and yellow silk. As temperatures drop, we'll wear Karma’s Nikko Silk Velvet Gold Long Robe that pairs with the aforementioned Edo Higa Slip Dress!

Neutrals are colors too! Boglietti’s stretchy knit camisoles of black, grey, brown, and deep red made dressing for summer a breeze. Each offers a unique and beautiful macramé embellishment at its neckline. Worn under or over a slip dress, or with a simple long skirt, we were ready for anything. For fall we’ll choose the sister versions with long sleeves in black and grey.

Little lessons from summer (and JV) make us wise, as we graduate into the new season.
