Lingerie Chronicles

You will be delighted to learn that many of life’s little tribulations can be solved with Jane’s Vanity lingerie. Whether ethical, sartorial, cultural, or romantic, the situation can only be improved by our clever application of silk and lace.

Ethical? Let’s get that out of the way first. When we have a muddle to deal with, we gather our forces. That means: call mother. She’s bailed us out many times before. Such wisdom. Such strength. She should get something frivolous for Mother’s Day. We like the Eloise Tulle Gloves from Hungarian brand Karma in black (with polka dots). Picture Mom gesturing in THESE, as she dishes out telephone advice. She can wear them straight and up to the elbow or scrunched to show off her chunky bracelets.

Then there is the issue of what to wear for our maiden voyage in business class–to Rome on the overnight flight! Athleisurewear? We don’t think so. Instead, we plan to layer up in one of Emma Harris’s darling camisole-topped Pajama Sets. Perhaps the grapey silk Clara, trimmed in sparkling black lace with capri-length trousers that even have pockets. When the lights go out, we’ll shimmy out of our jeans and have a deliciously comfortable sleep. No worries about the chill up there, because we’ll be wearing our Aromatique Black Rib Silk Long Sleeve Top (to shed  as the urge takes us).

And…what of our wardrobe “When in Rome…?” We don’t try to compete. We can’t. We just enjoy walking this wondrous city. Which means caring for our feet with Pierre Mantoux’s trusty (and sexy) socks, from cute anklets to knee highs, in luxurious blends of wool or cotton or cashmere. Great for ankle boots, loafers, trainers. OK, maybe we’re competing just a little (un po’). P.S. We also pack a small container of Botanical Mineral Bath Salts from Voyage et Cie. Wonderful for soothing travel aches (should we be in the vicinity of a tub!). Their Parfum Oil Roll-Ons are a great alternative for a quick lift anywhere.

How to chronicle romantic tribulations? American poet Elizabeth Bishop did so in “One Art:” As she drily writes, “The art of losing isn’t hard to master.” Or, as Mother would say, “rise above…” So, we’ll get out there in something gorgeous. That would be a chiffon blouse from FrancesKa: the Brigitte Lavallière, in choice of sheerest black, white, or red. Perfect for dating. Or for gazing out the window.

Thank you Jane’s Vanity, for your brilliant solutions.
