The Emmas

At the Jane’s Vanity atelier in Portland, rails of garments from various designers co-mingle and make unexpectedly brilliant combinations. Two especially complementary labels have the same name: Emma Harris, whose jewel-toned silks come from Derbyshire, UK, and the Mediterranean-inspired Emma Ducci, based in the south of France. Emma, meet Emma. We already know you’ll look great together.

JV favorite Emma Harris is all about single sumptuous colorways, appliquéd in shimmering lace. Her slightly retro shapes suggest old movies, lingering afternoon conversations. Each color choice inspires a collection of matching items, from bra sets to camisole-top pajamas to kimono robes. To own an Emma Harris garment is to love it (and wish to wear it 24/7).

Emma Ducci, new at JV, creates with sun-drenched prints. Her resort styles combine the flowing shapes of Morocco with the party mood of the Riviera. JV chose garments from two of her patterns, one a folkloric vine in azure blue and blossom red. The other combines pink, orange, chartreuse, and berry into a spicy paisley.

Side by side, the work of these two designers totally “pops!” For example: the Aegean vine of Ducci’s Santorini collection has just arrived with shirtdress, kaftan, and reversible tie-back scarf top with lounging pants. Add to this the serenity of the sea with Harris’s Veronique collection in cobalt blue bra set, slip, pajamas, and kimono-style robe.

Harris’s Celeste Raspberry collection focuses our attention on the most delicious shade of fuchsia. Its molded bra, camisole set, or robe picks up the deep pink of Ducci’s riotous Pondicherry Paisley in reversible tie-back scarf top and lounging pants.

Together, these weightless pieces create a non-stop mix and match travel wardrobe that could extend for days. And you’ll have a great time wearing them. Because, JV vacation clothes always play nice and like to make new friends!
