Road Wisdom
My travel companion states that trip essentials should include Post-Its (to cover blinking hotel-room electronics at night) and a knife, fork, and spoon. I would choose a tiny atomizer of the scent Upper Ten by Lubin, a good book, and a few well-chosen items from Jane’s Vanity. So comforting.
On the road, the idea of comfort goes beyond elasticity. Rather, it suggests a certain grounding. At the end of another crazy day, it is nice to have something special waiting in my suitcase.
For example, my pretty Ebony Tulip Turban, from Violet + Wren, frames my face and saves my hair as I wash and apply makeup. It also comes to the rescue when I need to hide my hair entirely.
A mesh bra is a travel must. After a quick rinse and towel-wrap, it will air-dry by morning, even in the highest humidity. I vote for the gorgeous Lise Charmel Ajourage Petales Lingerie Set. Its graphite color goes with everything.
Silk Pajamas from Olivia Von Halle are reassuring at night and wearable all day. Love the Coco Luisa in black with white trim.
Speaking of laundry, a silk camisole from Dana Pisarra also dries quickly. And insulates from heat or cold. Layer it or wear as a top with pajamas. But which one? So hard to choose. Perhaps the berry-hued Venus Amarena Lace Bust set. Includes matching lace boy shorts.
My Zynni Silver Silk Cashmere Draped Basic Top brilliantly travels from day to night. Its lovely knit and quiet style transform me every time.
I like to save one item for last. Deep in my suitcase is a clean, spiffy finale. Fabulous just to contemplate, the Klements Mildred Blouse is ready to party, in Volcano or Magma print.
Best of all, these garments pack to almost nothing. Thanks to Jane’s Vanity, dressing on the road feels like a minor art form!
