Dada and Dana

Where will fashion take us as the pandemic lifts? After the horrors of World War I, the Dada Movement turned the European art world upside down. Dada’s in-your-face absurdist antics provided a brief but refreshing introduction to a decade-long party in the 1920s. Style was paramount. A century later, we feel a similar longing for joy, elegance, and wit in our clothing. We find it in Dana Pisarra’s special loungewear from Italy. Jane’s Vanity has us ready for anything in Dana’s intriguing silk and lace.

Dana’s ribbed silk lingerie recalls the mysterious Fortuny pleated gowns of the 1920s. Like their earlier counterparts, these stretchy modern pieces mold to one’s shape and radiate grace. Start with the Sec Smoke or Bordeaux Silk Camisole with v-neckline accented by textural floral embroidery. Next, choose a long sleeve top with scrollery insets at sleeve and hem: the Blu Eden Cashmere Silk Top in navy or the Bordeaux Ribbed Silk Top with additional edging of soutache lace. Layer up with the Sens Silk Cardigan in Smoke or Shell. Notice the sheer floral lace down the back. I have been stopped on the street to be complimented and admired when wearing this garment with my casual tees and jeans. Can’t wait to get it out again as spring approaches.

Speaking of spring, JV has some sporty and folkloric Dana Pisarra pieces to greet the sun. Grab a short-sleeved Trim Blu Cotton Tee with a wide inset of white and navy embroidery at the front. Pack the black linen Cannes Sleeveless Shift with its ivory embroidered detailing at front and hem. Nap sweetly in the Dream Embroidered Cotton Kaftan in white with bell sleeves, scalloped edging and hand-embroidered detailing.

Art and fashion move us along. Embrace a new day in your Dana Pisarra wardrobe from Jane’s Vanity.
