A Whisper of Inspiration
Jane’s private showroom, “The Paisley,” boasts an incredible array of art. Perhaps the most arresting pieces are those of Anne Siems, a Seattle artist whose work is a bit Kahlo, a bit van Eyck, a bit Velasquez. Her mystical art tells stories of women, nature, wonder. What inspires her? What inspires you?
Take time to recharge and reimagine. It is the ultimate luxury. You might find your inspiration in a walk or a swim. Or a quiet morning spent looking out the window or reading. Indulge your senses with something silky to wear. From Jane’s Vanity, of course. Think back.
Perhaps your teen inspiration came from the next door neighbor from Luxembourg who gave you stacks of French magazines with pictures of Francoise Hardy and Sylvie Vartan. Or from a first trip to San Francisco where you rode a cable car at night, sitting by yourself on the outside bench, in the fog. Then there was that summer in France.
Now inspiration is like a whisper. It is everywhere. Ideas interlink. Movies lead in many directions. Watch Franca: Chaos and Creation about Italian Vogue’s Franca Sozzani (available on Netflix!). Histories, biographies, memoirs stir the imagination. Magazines from far away lure one on. Wander through thrift shops to clear the head. People watch. Study a painting. Fall in love.
And just rock on. Even if you have only a moment to spare. Light a candle and drift a little. Hear a whisper?
