Twinkle Toes

Just one word sums up this year’s fall/winter fashions: Accessories! To keep all those gorgeous  hats, bags, gloves, shoes, and jewels in line, the key is a well-appointed leg. Stockings are essential for a season that feels both new and retro. And Jane’s Vanity is ready, with exciting hosiery from Italian knitwear-maker Pierre Mantoux.

Hard to imagine now, but, before 1958, there was no Lycra fiber to weave smooth and sexy stockings. Lycra was created in Milan, and the Milanese family company Pierre Mantoux quickly shared its potential with the world. That same year, it began to fabricate Lycra tights, and to collaborate with London designer Mary Quant, the first to create mini-skirts. Pierre Mantoux has continued to innovate. And delight. As you will see and feel with these new arrivals at JV.

Let’s start at the ankle. The Gwynne Sock is a playful blue paisley with silver lurex thread. Its quarter height adds surprise to an ankle-strap stiletto. Try it beneath Vannina Vespirin’s Ocean and Black Silk Gown with thigh-high slit. And the Sana Floral Sock, in black or bronze, will give your preppy loafers a happy zing that works with baggy pants and a faux-mink jacket.

Pierre Mantoux is known for its dots. And you’ll want to collect them all. The Safra Ankle Sock, in dotted sheer beige or black, will flatter cat boots and kitten heels. The Safra Knee Highs, in sheer black with black dots, will flirt with boots and trousers. And the Safra Stay Up, with its black dots on beige, will show off not only your legs, but also its own wide band of black lace at the thigh.

With the holidays coming, you’ll need a party wardrobe of festive tone-on-tone jacquard hosiery. Pierre Mantoux offers the Joey Ankle Sock in black, beige, or navy, the Joey Black Stay Up, and the Joey Navy Tights.

Stockings might seem to be the finishing touch. But at Jane’s Vanity, they lead the way!
