Sway
My summer anthem is Sway. The song prowls into my psyche with a mambo beat and transports me to a 1950s cocktail lounge. Dean Martin made Sway a hit then. It continues to be performed and recorded in various ways, from sultry to hip hop. I love them all. The first two lines tell the story: “When marimba rhythms start to play / Dance with me, make me sway…” It is an invitation to my hips to get up and get moving. I just need something swirly to wear from Jane’s Vanity. In fact, I can see a dance party made up entirely of JV ensembles. Let’s sway, everybody.
Ruffled at the bottom, Taryn Winters’s Morganne Babydoll is our invitation to the dance. Its deep v-neck and elasticized waist free us to move, while the black silk chiffon makes sure we look fabulous while doing so.
We feel the night in Marjolaine’s floaty Hyacinth Silk Pajama Set with its palazzo shape, lovely color, and smoke-tinted lace appliques. Meet us out by the pool.
For twirl-ability, we look to the midi length and a-line shape of Gilda & Pearl’s Sophia Jade Slip. We are a blur of vibrant color, v-neckline, and criss-cross back.
We dance as one with our slinky bias-cut slip dress. Violet & Wren offer a choice of the Evergreen in patterned teal green silk or the Camo Bloom in bold silk floral print of black, navy, white, and bronze. Each features a plunging back with French Leavers Lace detail at shoulders.
And we love the dance-floor embrace of Loveday London’s Lysander Silk & Leather Chemise: a dream of white stretch-silk body, cups of white lambskin leather, and accents of heavy black and white lace at cups and hem.
We Sway through summer in swoony JV style.
