Recherche

The French word recherche is a lovely way to say special. As in rare, exotic, desired. The recherche mismatched drop earrings. The recherche vintage bomber jacket. It could also mean a little contrived, but, so what? The recherche over-the-top embellished kitten heels would work for me.

Even the sound of this word implies something curatorial. I think of the way Iris Apfel might dress. Studied, but with creativity and joy. My Jane’s Vanity wardrobe allows me to compose my own recherche look every day.
