Quiet Sunday

Two beautiful words: quiet Sunday. Toss the list of chores, and use this time for a JV loungewear fashion show. You’ll be the model, of course. Good to practice wearing your new acquisitions. Show them off to someone nice, or put on a show for your own enjoyment.

Orchestrate the proceedings in a gown. It dresses you in an instant and adds a touch of glamour to your afternoon. See what we mean in Vannina Vesperini’s Carla Silk Gown in lovely light blue stretch silk, with spaghetti straps, scoop neckline, lace-up back, and blush lace appliqués at hem and high slit.

Now to tell a little story with your fashion show. About your long-postponed trip to Europe, perhaps. Imagine yourself unpacking in your tiny Parisian hotel, artfully attired in the Emma Harris Veronique Silk Pajama and Robe in basic ice blue, trimmed with sparkling purple appliqués. Or strolling through Venice’s Piazza San Marco in Vannina Vesperini’s Khaki Silk Camisole and Jane Trousers. Or swaying through the dining car of the Orient Express in Dana Pisarra’s Luxor Wool Silk Gown, the Studio Pia Amber Silk Robe slung over an elegant shoulder. Pause to consider that all of these pieces combine to make a complete travel wardrobe–one that will fit into the Sydney Weekender Tote from Elisabeth Weinstock!

Don’t forget to accessorize. Trot out your scarf collection and enjoy the pleasure of selecting works of art by Klements and Ika Paris. Add the finishing touch of Falke hosiery. Twirl.

A private JV fashion show is a great way to clarify your look, your closet, your suitcase. And to dream. New ideas will percolate and small tasks will present themselves. After order is restored in your boudoir, bask in a sense of accomplishment. Dinner? Maybe order out. Dress for it, and light the candles. Jane’s Vanity wishes you a happy week.
