Sweet and Savory

Perhaps you’ve seen cookbooks about taste that focus on sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and savory (umami). You want this variety of flavors in your diet. You might also consider how they inform your Jane’s Vanity wardrobe.

Sweet, in the way of a flavorful first kiss, describes the Paeonia Lingerie Set from Karolina Laskowska. Its hand-painted Chantilly lace, in watercolor shades of pink, is embellished with red and pink corded trim and hand-dyed silk. An unforgettable confection.

Salty suggests the daring print combinations of loungewear from Karma on the Rocks. The Tokyo Aka Cotton Pajama and Kobe Aka Robe combine a body of orange and white floral print with contrasting trim in chevrons of purple, orange, and blue. The Edo Crane Silk Slip and Tokyo Crane Silk Pajama suggest an Escher-like print of yellow cranes on dreamy pale blue crepe de chine. Just in, the Hanabi and Mozaicu collections of Pajamas, Slips, and Robes are loose and boho in rich purple or aqua blue.

Sour and bitter? Might seem antithetical to lingerie. But think of bitter chocolate: its tang, its underlying mellowness, its beautiful range of colors. And consider how a surprise might pep up your pretty things. We’re imagining Gilda & Pearl’s Lili Midi Slip Dress and matching tasseled Long Robe. Their fierce dragon print, in flaming red on rose gold silk, wakes up our senses and gives us a thrill every time we wear it.

Umami is a pleasant savory taste. Which conjures the rich sophistication of Vannina Vesperini’s Burgundy Schiap Dress in charismatic dark red stretch silk. Casually retro, it features deep cleavage, shoulder pads (removable), shirred waist, hip flounces, full skirt. Why not wear it to dine out!?

Together these taste concepts describe both your menu and your lingerie. Jane’s Vanity gives you a dash of surprise, a pinch of seduction, and a delicious lingering memory.
