Bread and Lingerie

We need all sorts of sustenance in our lives: bread and chocolate, bread and roses, most definitely bread and lingerie. The concept comes alive in the 2000 Italian film Bread and Tulips (Pane e Tulipani). Watch this joyous romantic comedy (on YouTube) and identify with the heroine Rosalba whose tour bus (and family) accidentally leave her at a rest stop on the autostrada--with only a handbag and the clothes she is wearing. Naturally, she takes off for Venice! Jane’s Vanity tags along.

If you fell into such an adventure, which JV items would you wish to have chosen that morning? Your first thought might be for something functional, but, in the spirit of the movie, choose pieces that are rather more colorful and fun. After all, you’ll be traveling to Venice and getting a job in a flower shop.

Start with a friendly bra: Madame Aime’s Rue Monsieur Pink Quartz Bralette Set is not only pretty, but also a good traveller with its non-underwired longline triangle bra and matching bikini panty. A blouse would be handy for the long-haul. Choose Violet & Wren’s Blush Fern Silk Blouse in petal pink with navy blue floral print. Wear with their Regency Stripe Silk Pajama bottoms. Perhaps you tossed a cardigan into your bag. Let it be the Romantic Amande from Dana Pisarra. You’re all set, with pieces that are both grounded and transporting.

Have a wonderful Venetian escape, and remember to feed your soul with lingerie from Jane’s Vanity.
